LEARN MORE

The RockHouse system is a revolutionary time-smart, low-cost building construction system, whatever your chosen design.  No factory.  No scaffolding.  No need for expensive concrete slabs.  Just a simple system of exceptional strength and durability.

Parts

There are only three major parts in the RockHouse Construction System: Beams, Spreaders and Columns. Floors and roofs are made from Beams and Spreaders bolted together to form structural grids of 900mm x 900mm elements. Walls are made from Columns rigidly bolted to upper and lower grids.

Materials

The parts are made on-site from cut sheets of heavy duty galvanised steel:

• Strong

• Corrosion resistant

• Termite resistant

• Fire resistant

• Recyclable

Machines

RockHouse parts are made by mobile forming machines located at or near the construction site, further saving on the cumulative costs of conventional building methods.

The machines are computer controlled and operate automatically.  Flat sheet materials are loaded in one end and finished parts are ejected from the other.

Each machine is effectively a trailer, being mounted on wheels and towable by trucks, tractors, or other motorised prime movers.

For security and protection from the weather, the machines are fully enclosed under hinging doors which can be opened as needed.

Assembly

RockHouse structures are assembled by bolting the three primary parts together in a logical sequence.  Beams and spreaders are assembled into 900mm x 900mm grids to form floors, ceilings and roofs.

Columns are bolted vertically between floor and ceiling grids to form walls.

3. Bolted Together

Walls are assembled by attaching columns to the grids using the same standard flange bolts and nuts. Between floors, columns are overlapped for maximum structural rigidity.

4. Finished at Your Will

RockHouse buildings are completed by adding windows, doors, and modern floor, wall and ceiling materials.

1. Assembled at Ground Level

Floor grids, flooring, and the finished roof structure are assembled at ground level.

2. Lifted with Water Jacking System

Upper floors and roof assembly are lifted quickly, securely and precisely into position using a RockHouse jacking system, allowing the wall columns to be bolted on.

Water Jacking System

Floor grids, flooring, and the finished roof structure are all assembled at ground level. Upper floors and the roof assembly are lifted quickly, securely and precisely into position using a RockHouse water jacking system.

This system eliminates the risks associated with working at height, greatly improving safety and minimising the risk of personal injury.

Once the jacks reach the correct height, they are locked in position for the wall columns to be bolted on. After the columns are installed, the water jacks are unlocked, lowered, and taken to the next building to be raised.

Building

Building Frames

The RockHouse System is extremely versatile and gives the option to build anywhere without the need for or expense of a concrete slab. It is ideally suited for houses, schools, community buildings and mining camps. Architects and designers can create infinitely variable designs:

•  Single storey or multi-storey

•  Flat, skillion or gable roofs

•  Unlimited room layouts

•  Porticos

•  Verandas

•  Balconies

•  Set-backs

•  Large portal windows and doors

•  Staircases

Testing

Testing

Confirming the exceptional strength of RockHouse structures, a series of destructive and non-destructive tests were carried out by independent consultant structural engineers.  All test results substantially exceeded the specified criteria of the relevant structures codes.

A certified report of the test results is available for presentation to local building approval authorities.
