Did you know that cement is the source of around 8% of the world's carbon dioxide emissions?
With RockHouse technology you can build a complete high-quality house without using any
concrete whatsoever – now that’s environmentally responsible.
For conventional house construction, large quantities of concrete are used to pour foundations and floor slabs. Plus extensive site works are also required, adding to costs and environmental destruction.
The RockHouse technology which is used for building sustainable houses includes innovative RockFoot foundations, which are low cost, structurally sound, and quick to install. They cause minimal ground disturbance, and best of all no concrete is used.
RockFoot foundations consist of steel anchor brackets which bolt rigidly to the RockHouse ground floor grid, and through which steel tubes are driven into the ground at an angle, using a jackhammer.
...steel tubes are driven into the ground at an angle, using a jackhammer.
Positioning is 100% accurate because the tubes are driven after the grid is in position and levelled – no guesswork needed.
Depending on soil conditions, the tubes can be either made from galvanised steel or stainless steel.
For sloping sites (where extra ground clearance is required) different RockFoot mounting brackets are used to allow square tubular posts to be dropped through and into a footplate with angled tubes at ground level. Simplicity is best.
There is no need to be concerned about the strength and stability of RockFoot foundations. The most basic unit with only two tubes can support up to 5 tons. Additionally, they can be clustered as necessary to support any load.
Another great feature of RockFoot foundations is their high "pull-out resistance", making them ideal for securely anchoring buildings which are exposed to potential cyclones or hurricanes.
In alignment with RockHouse technology, RockFoot foundations are also an eco-responsible method of building with a number of advantageous benefits, without concrete.
